2025 Progress Report
Making a Global Impact

Dear Friends,

As we surpass our 8th year at Vivli, it is thrilling to see how far we have come. We have built not one but two complementary platforms: our clinical data sharing platform and our antimicrobial resistance surveillance data platform. Together, these platforms enable global data sharing and reuse by researchers of all career levels, from graduate students to established investigators.

As of our 2025 Annual Meeting, more than 800 research proposals have been approved this year. That’s a 33% increase since our meeting last year. Each of these proposals represents an opportunity to contribute to our scientific body of knowledge. At this year’s meeting, we highlighted the growing impact of  research using the Vivli clinical data sharing platform in oncology and routine care.

Over the past year, we have focused on three key areas. First, we have partnered with our members to overcome a key obstacle in sharing images from clinical research by working to share best practices with anonymizing images, such as MRIs and Radiograph data from completed trials.  By sharing these data, we hope to enable researchers to answer new and novel questions. Second, we launched the Vivli Ambassadors program and are partnering with six researchers worldwide to provide us with feedback to improve the Vivli platform, amplify the impact of data sharing, and foster broader global conversations about data re-use. Finally, we are supporting our members in complying with new guidance from the US Department of Justice on sharing Americans’ bulk sensitive data with Countries of Concern.

As part of our goal to increase global engagement with the Vivli platforms, we are launching Vivli EU, a new entity in Amsterdam, reflecting the growing importance of Europe in advancing trusted, cross-border secondary use of data. This represents a continuation of our mission to connect data, partners, and researchers across borders and our commitment to advance responsible data sharing globally. We look forward to sharing more about Vivli EU in early 2026.

Our success this year would not have been possible without our members, researchers, advisors, and funders.

Together, we are truly making an impact through data sharing. Happy New Year!
