Position Summary
Vivli is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure cloud infrastructure and Terraform, with a proven track record of building and maintaining secure, scalable, and compliant environments. Experience in the health sciences, particularly in clinical research or adjacent fields, is highly desirable.
This role will be instrumental in supporting Vivli’s growing technical operations, including automation, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure management for our data-sharing and analytics platform. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, international team and demonstrate both independence and adaptability in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
H1B sponsorship is not available for this position and third party contracts are not currently being considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and environment configurations to support secure data-sharing operations.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, security professionals, and data scientists to ensure smooth deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications.
- Implement and maintain best practices for cloud security, compliance, and performance optimization.
- Monitor system health, automate operational workflows, and proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in DevOps practices, documentation, and automation standards.
- Participate in incident response and change management processes, with an emphasis on reliability and audit readiness.
- Work collaboratively across a diverse, supportive, and globally distributed team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps or cloud infrastructure engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Key Vault, App Services, etc.).
- Strong proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Familiarity with security best practices, including data privacy and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Background or familiarity with clinical research, health sciences, or regulated data environments.
- Experience with DICOM image workflows or ‘omics data processing (e.g., genomics, proteomics).
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to data sharing and health research (e.g., GxP, FAIR data principles).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).
- Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and integration tasks.
