NIH HEAL Initiative

About The Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative®, is an aggressive, trans-agency effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the national opioid public health crisis. Almost every NIH Institute and Center is accelerating research to address this public health emergency from all angles.
The initiative is funding hundreds of projects nationwide. Researchers are taking a variety of approaches to tackle the opioid epidemic through:
• Understanding, managing, and treating pain
• Improving treatment for opioid misuse and addiction
How we share on the Vivli Platform Researchers whose studies are funded by NIH HEAL Initiative® can meet their data sharing obligations as part of the initiative by archiving their data on Vivli. For more information: https://heal.nih.gov/data/complying-heal-data-sharing-policy
What information will be provided The raw anonymized individual participant-level data (IPD), protocol and data dictionary will be provided.
Review Criteria for Data Requests Requests for HEAL data will go through the accelerated  Vivli review process, which requires that the Vivli data request form is filled out and that the research team includes a qualified statistician.
